G.I. Joe and the APEST Armed Forces

Sticker Blog GI Joe

Because NewBreed trains teams for multiplication instead of the solo hero leader, for Exponential this year, NewBreed is going to be giving away famous team-up stickers. These aren’t your Nana’s stickers either. These are stickers with a purpose. They’re stickers about teams, true, but they’re also stickers about APEST.

Have you ever thought about the famous team-ups from pop culture over the past few decades and where the individuals in those teams might fit into an APEST framework?

I have.

If you’ve read any of my books, that may not be a surprise to you.

G.I. Joe was the next best thing to Star Wars when I was young. They even topped He-Man in the order of importance. I have no idea why this team is on our stickers except that NewBreed needed stickers with Snake Eyes on it. I wish Snake Eyes was the apostle, but we can’t always have it our way.

Apostle: Duke is all about the mission. The mission is to stop Cobra, but for us it’s to advance the kingdom.

Prophet: Snake Eyes is the mysterious one. He never talks (unlike an actual prophet) and has his own mystical ways. Perhaps he’s most like a prophet in that, even when not speaking, he carries a presence (and an uzi).

Evangelist: Roadblock is tough. He is always ready for the heavy lifting like an evangelist who will do the jobs nobody else wants to do. Always motivated. Always up for it. He’s got enough motivation for the whole team.

Shepherd: Scarlett…welp, when I was young, she was kinda like a mom to me. Sure, she carried a machine gun that shot lasers, but she was nurturing by nature.

Teacher: Falcon is a green beret, which means he has training. Theological training? Maybe. Maybe not. But he’s studied to show himself approved…and he deserves a little respect.

Well, now you know! And knowing is half the battle!
