What Is Team Leadership?
When most people hear the term "team leadership," they misunderstand the term...at least the way NewBreed uses it.
Usually, team leadership means something like the top dog listening to what others have to say. Or that subordinates have a high degree of ownership. Or even that you have a fun staff culture.
True team leadership though means equality. It's shared leadership because you recognize that everyone on the team has a unique set of giftings that cover your blindspots. It means one person doesn't have all the power; there's no veto power.
This makes people uncomfortable, so the natural question is: is this biblical?
Check out the team leadership podcast, where we interview church planters who are living it out to find out.
Ministry is a team sport. If you make all the decisions yourself, carry the weight of responsibility yourself, and look only to yourself for wisdom, then you're going to get burned out. Ministry work, especially church planting, should be done in teams. Jesus trained teams, Paul trained teams, and we should too.
