Episode 1: Rediscovering 1st Century Ministry: From Church Starting to Church Planting

When we think about church planting, what often comes to mind is really starting a worship service. Yet in the first century, the Apostle Paul didn't walk around advertising worship services; he sowed the seeds of the gospel, watered through discipleship, and reaped a church plant as a harvest. It might be hard to imagine church planting in a world without big budgets, flashy websites, and ninja-like marketing tactics, but rest assured, it's done all over the world. Listen to the common thread in this introductory episode.

Episode 2 – Rediscovering Apostolic Ministry: From Moses' Model to Missionary Multiplication

We often define success in leadership by power and fame. The more people see a leader and the more people that answer to a leader means that leader has made it. But the overwhelming burden of concentrated power was not the way God designed us to live and lead. Instead, we ought to be focused on raising up and sending out more leaders to carry the mission forward. We've talked to church planters all over the world, and although you haven't heard of all their names, it will be hard to discount their Kingdom impact.

Episode 3 – Rediscovering Team Leadership: From Top-Down Leadership to Embodying Christ on Mission

Ministry is a team sport. If you make all the decisions yourself, carry the weight of responsibility yourself, and look only to yourself for wisdom, then you're going to get burned out. Ministry work, especially church planting, should be done in teams. Jesus trained teams, Paul trained teams, and we should too.

Episode 4 – Rediscovering Apostolic Strike Teams: From Solo Performer to Catalyzing Teams

When the Apostle Paul planted churches throughout the Mediterranean, he didn't directly plant all of the churches by himself. Instead, he raised up strike teams that go split up and reform as the mission dictated. These teams spread out and planted churches in more places than Paul himself could have ministered. Listen to how this has played out through church history and across the globe.

Episode 5 – Rediscovering God's Heart for Mission: From Borrowed Models to Broken-Hearted Compulsion

Nobody wants to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes though, we see the fruit of others' ministry and copy what they're doing, hoping to see the same results. But when you want to reach and serve your community, you have to enter its rhythms and listen to what the people need. Only then will a church plant flourish.

Episode 6 – Rediscovering First-Century Participation: From Solo Performers to Team Mobilizers

Church was never meant to be a spectator sport. Unfortunately, when we plant churches, we often turn Christians into cheerleaders whose only role is to clap or say "amen" during services. Our true purpose though is to make disciples who are mobilized on mission. In Jesus' church, everyone gets to play and everyone has an important role.

Episode 7 – Rediscovering the Spirit's Empowering: From Fake Bravado to Spiritual Power

Rather than relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, most church planters today rely on their own plans and fundraising abilities. We don't step out in faith much. Instead, we trust in our own understanding. So what does seeking spiritual power look like? Listen to how the Holy Spirit empowers the work of church planting all around the world in this episode.

Episode 8 – Rediscovering Church as Mission: From Scattering on Mission to Gathering on Mission

Mission isn't just something that happens "out there," it happens within the four walls of the church as well. When believers gather together, they should interact in a way that makes gathering times just as missional as the community work that they engage in at other times. Listen to how church planters across the world have rediscovered how to gather on mission.

Episode 9 – Rediscovering Reproducible Sustainability: From Fully Funded to Apostolically Agile

Church planting is expensive in the West. There's a greater need to plant churches than funds available to pay church planter salaries. Yet that's nothing new. The Apostle Paul wasn't rolling in cash either. That's why he, and many of his team members, utilized more agile funding models for their ministry work. The same is true for many successful church planters today.

Episode 10 – Rediscovering Kingdom Collaboration Networks for Multiplication: From Building Upward to Spreading Outward

Planting a single church should never be a planter's goal. The Apostle Paul planted networks of churches and we should follow suit if we want to make a dent in the lostness of the world. Find out in this episode how church planters in many parts of the world are prioritizing the Kingdom over their own church.
